Mercure Hotel Schweinfurt Maininsel

Unfortunately, the experience at the hotel was disappointing, in terms of the staff, the room, and the hotel restaurant. In general, our impression of the staff was that they were indifferent and not very attentive to guests. We even experienced directly rude behavior from an employee at the reception. In the hotel room there was no safe, and there were no extra pillows either. This at a hotel that claims to be a four‑star hotel. When we called the reception and asked for more toilet paper, we were told to come and get it ourselves. The employee was rude and abruptly hung up the phone before we had the chance to say anything more. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and ordered two different dishes from the most expensive options on the menu, as we wanted to treat ourselves a bit extra. It turned out to be a disappointment. The served steak was simply just a piece of cooked meat. It wasn’t seasoned in any way—nothing at all. Just cooked. A tasteless piece of meat. The accompanying fried potatoes were soggy and greasy, not crispy as they usually are. Not a single salad leaf, nothing. I have never experienced such a poor dinner at a four‑star hotel in Germany. Finally, I would like to mention that we are experienced hotel guests, with a minimum of 16 hotel nights every year. We are members of most major hotel chains in Europe, including Mercure (All Hotels). This year (2026), we stayed at four Mercure hotels, and Mercure Schweinfurt was the worst of them all. This is not a four‑star hotel, even though they claim to be.

Due to the extreme heat, we actually settled here to enjoy the luxury of air conditioning. Because with outside temperatures of 36° and more, it is unbearable in a private apartment. The rooms are very good. Soundproofed. The view out onto the Main is nice, and there is a restaurant within walking distance. We didn't care that the television in our room didn't work. The main thing is having an air conditioner that can be individually adjusted. It can be quieter acoustically. But in an emergency, that is secondary. A grab bar in the bathtub would be very useful. And one must really get the legs up well to reach this shower tub construction.

Very friendly team; the booking error of a single room instead of a double room was easily corrected. The house has a very beautiful atrium, and the room was spacious. The fitness and wellness area was also good. The breakfast left nothing to be desired. The location on Main Island is excellent. 👍 The hotel is not brand new, but well-maintained. The old town is just a stone's throw away.
