Akzent Hotel Krone

Rooms were ok but bedding seemed cheap and inappropriate for the hot weather (flannel mattress cover and thick-ish synthetic doona without sheet). During checking in staff were cold and unpleasant. I attempted to speak German but the manager made no effort to help thé communication along and was impatient with my broken German. I would have thought it was her responsibility to attempt to speak English (also my second language) as the hospitality manager, not mine to speak her language as the client. Another staff member ignored me when I came down to speak to them about dinner, she walked away and when I followed her and spoke to her she was rude in her manner. I can’t help but feel these people were homophobic; they interacted with my (straight) family members completely differently: courteous and accommodating. The obviously inexperienced staff member who was working the following morning during breakfast was lovely in her manners.

We stayed here just one night on our way to Austria for a skiing trip. It is a typical german hotel with restaurant. Rooms were clean and spacious. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed my schnitzel and beer in the restaurant, great quality and large portions, just what I needed after a couple of hour driving. Would definitely recommend this hotel but I am nog sure if it qould be suitable for more than 1-2 nights.

Once you are 'out of' the big cities, you're always prepared to "not so good" news... and surprises not exactly the best... We were just starting our one weeks trip along Romantic Road in Germany's heart! A lot of lovely cities, some small, other not that much. Very near Würzburg we found it charming small hotel with surprisingly good service and installations. And a lovely dinner to complete the experience. Congratulations to the owners family. Hope we can return some day.
