Hotel Amberger

Würzburg is always worth a trip. The hotels are mostly between traditional or mediocre. Breakfast also sufficient with slightly stressed staff.

Since we prefer family-run hotels, we visited the Amberger Hotel again after a long time as part of the Würzburg Marathon. Super central, super friendly reception from the receptionist, and the renovated room impressed us immediately. Great price-performance ratio. Typical room size for a city hotel of the chosen category, nice color scheme, modern bathroom, although without a tub. There are also rooms with bathtubs, but unfortunately, they were all booked. We had a room facing the back, and it was super quiet. The mattresses were super comfortable, and we rarely slept so well in a hotel bed. Our room had a safe. Since we still needed to iron something, we politely asked at the reception about local options. They readily provided us with an iron and an ironing board. Since we had booked with breakfast, we were allowed to help ourselves to the very extensive buffet for a 3-star hotel. Coffee is self-served from a fully automatic machine that offers various coffee specialties. We really enjoyed the coffee. The coffee variety used can be purchased at the hotel, and there were also great and high-quality tea varieties available. Egg dishes were actively offered by the friendly staff and prepared fresh. Really great for a 3-star hotel; other hotels could take a cue from this. Although it was quite busy that morning, we found the staff to be very relaxed yet effective and friendly. Unfortunately, there is no bar in the hotel; however, there is a vending machine in the foyer that covers the common types of drinks. Nearby, there is a parking garage, and if you have the parking ticket stamped at the hotel, the parking fee is reduced. Due to the stairs leading to the entrance of the hotel, it is not particularly suitable for individuals with mobility issues. Dogs are allowed, but they may not be taken into the breakfast room. Internet access was free, and the guide for the Amberger Hotel is available online. We also saw a charging station for electric cars at the hotel. Next to the hotel, there is an Italian restaurant that we tried in the evening. Delicious cuisine at fair prices. Conclusion: We will return. At the latest when the Christmas market opens.

The staff are friendly and helpful. Room wise is very clean and decent size, however there is no kettle, no cups and glasses, no drinking water… basically you can make yourself a hot drink inside the room as these seemingly basic things are just not being provided. The rest of others you will need to purchase from the counter. Breakfast was nice and value for the money.
