Mdhotel Walfisch

The Walfisch is very well located on the river, with great views over to the castle and vineyards. Our room (302) was spacious, bright and airy, the bathroom a bit tight but shower and towels good. Slept well. We had breakfast on our second morning and this was excellent - a very good choice and vegetarian options (other than yet more cheese!!). Located close to the 'sights' and the tram stop to the Hbf for rail travellers like us. Staff friendly and overall a good experience and would recommend. We were, however, disappointed that the restaurant was closed for 2 weeks from the day of our arrival (25/8), which seems odd as this is still the holiday season.

We stayed one night in the room at the top which was a double for €130 a night and an additional €25 for an extra bed for our daughter. Given the hotel's great location on the river and the great view from the (sadly a little small) window) that was good value..Room did (contrary to warnings on some reviews) have good air conditioning and our room, if not "large" was bright and pleasant with a nice modern bathroom. Service was friendly and the decor is a nice mix of tradition and modern with a very nice breakfast room/restaurant (the reception should be redecorated in more traditonal style as its attempt to be "modern" doesnt reallt match the nice restaurant or setting). Breakfast and drinks are a little expensive and here is where.tou need to be careful as it is very easy to clock up a large bill drinking beer on the very nice hotel riverside terrace. Strongly recommend - we will be back.

The hotel is located a short walk from the city centre and opposite the river that crosses the city. In addition to the hotel restaurant, there are many restaurants and cafes within walking distance of a few minutes.
