Alma Schlosshotel im Grunewald

For the 60th. Birthday of my husband, I had booked "Bubbles & Tea" at the hotel. We had a fixed, confirmed reservation for 3:00 PM. The event was advertised as a "stylish afternoon full of enjoyment and atmosphere." Unfortunately, that was not confirmed in any way. Upon our arrival, we were searching for the champagne lounge in the foyer. The present staff deliberately ignored us. After we stopped an employee and explained our concern to him, he replied somewhat annoyed that the lounge was "back there, but we could alternatively sit outside." The champagne lounge was full, even though we actually had a reservation there. Of course, the outdoor area was also out of the question with 18 degrees and rain. Finally, we found refuge in the bar area. Unfortunately, the sofas there were sagging, worn, and stained. Now we were served tea: 2 glasses with tea bags. When I asked if they understood that under "Bubbles & Tea," the employee disappeared without a word. Some time later, a new employee appeared and informed us that there was no reservation from us, they could not offer us anything now, the employee responsible for reservations was sick, and there was always trouble with him anyway. We could arrange a new appointment, the 2 tea bags would of course be on the house, and he could also offer us a cookie and a praline. I was almost overwhelmed by such generosity!!! Of course, we did not want a new appointment; it is also difficult when coming from Hamburg... We were then assured that the hotel management would be informed immediately and that we would receive our money back. Dear hotel management: I am still waiting for an apology and, above all, for my money!

Four days before the planned arrival, the hotel room was canceled without any explanation. The room was booked for three nights through check24 back in November, and now we received the cancellation. Since we were not flexible with our schedule, we had to reluctantly take the alternative hotel offered, as there were no reasonably priced hotels available in Berlin for that weekend. This has not happened to me before. But now, something very positive. Mr. Aplin (I hope I understood the name correctly), who was our contact at the hotel, was super professional, very attentive, and answered all my questions excellently, helping me in a difficult situation. For this, I extend my heartfelt thanks.

I had a very pleasant stay at Schlosshotel Berlin. Initially I was not entirely satisfied with my room as there were a few minor flaws. However, the change of rooms was made possible quickly and completely uncomplicated – but a big thank you to the nice gentleman who took care of it. Also the lady from check in and check out was particularly friendly, helpful and very attentive. In general, the entire staff is very accommodating, but with her I had the most contact and felt particularly well looked after. The hotel itself is very stylishly decorated and has a really nice atmosphere. A small hint or improvement point: The website talks about a minibar, but this consisted only of two small bottles of water (which were free, which I find very positive). In addition, there is neither a coffee machine nor an electric kettle for tea in the room – that’s what I would have expected from a 5-star hotel. Overall, I am nevertheless very satisfied and can definitely recommend the hotel.
