The Hotel am Luisenplatz is the central hotel on the square with the nearby entrance to the park and Sanssouci Castle. Those arriving by car should park in the nearby shopping center (3 min walk for 20 euros per day). We have chosen the hotel as the start of Potsdam Castle Night. The surcharge at the “normal” weekend rate was 120 euros per room. It wasn't worth it. You can write so much about the hotel itself: - getting old - Furniture and interior not worthy of a 4 star hotel - Cleanliness with air up (glasses in the room unclean, under and next to the bed for a long time no longer vacuumed - Tassimo coffee machine (great) but without milk - spacious bathroom but extremely old - Air conditioning not available The staff was relaxed but overwhelmed with the 4 stars. We booked breakfast for 19.50 Euro p.p. Here the price is worth it. Selection and Mood were good, the only waitress top. Early presence secures the table. Overall as a verdict for the hotel only a “satisfactory”. That's all the 4 stars are worth.

The hotel needs urgently again a renovation :-( At breakfast it was very crowded, as even guests from away can have breakfast there. The coffee was lukewarm. When the pot was empty, we asked if we could have another cappuccino: Yes, but it costs extra :-( However, the pertsonal is very nice:-) Overall, we find 4 stars very flattered for this hotel.

The hotel is very old. We stayed in room 105. The furniture and doors were partly very damaged. The bathroom was very spacious but the toilet had strong edges. The staff were very friendly. Now for breakfast in the adjoining café, The chairs were very greasy and worn at the top of the backrests. The lids were missing from the coffee pots. Lumps of cheese were lying on a cutting machine that no one could operate. The entire selection was very limited. Some of the cutlery and cups were not clean. The cloth decoration around the buffet was very stained and dirty. We will not be coming back.
