Wyndham Garden Potsdam

Despite 24/7 reception, no one answers the phone. After the eighth attempt in 3 hours we gave up. On arrival, the lady at the reception could only speak broken German. The cleanliness of the room leaves much to be desired. The bathroom door jams very strongly, so you could only get it open with increased effort. Same with the window. It cracked and crunched, so we didn't dare to open it. In the bathroom the ventilation worked only sporadically. But there was a square hole cut in the plasterboard ceiling. Looked very "handsome." Under the room radiator was a kind of ventilation pipe. What that was for remains questionable. Possibly because of the humidity in the room, which cannot be removed by the "defective" bathroom ventilation. Also, the hotel is very noisy. I assume that there were massive savings in sound insulation. At breakfast, the dishes are cleared and the table is wiped during the meal. We felt compelled. A price of 8€/night is signposted at the entrance to the underground car park. But they charge 10€/night. On departure we were informed by the gentleman at the reception, also hardly any knowledge of German, that we could have left the underground car park on arrival. And all this for €160/night. Hard to believe, but true.

Good transport links The hotel is within walking distance of train and bus. Very quiet location. The room is ok, but the bathroom is getting old. Could be cleaner. Housekeeping is unmotivated and careless. Breakfast is fine, no highlights. Only scrambled eggs, no fried eggs.

No response of mail sent the day before arrival. Old building complex - where the room smelled a lot upon arrival. Few and old power outlets, where the use of round sockets must be with earth connection. The desk is missing table lamp. A refrigerator is missing. The aircon of the room is virtually not working - it was charged on the first morning, but nothing happened. The door lacks an extra interior safety device. The other guests are mostly old people. The outdoor areas lack maintenance and sewing. Shrubs and other plantations are still under maintenance. The website states that there are P-seats available. That was not the case on arrival, but fortunately there was a free seat. The P-place is very small and lacks strips.
