My Booking Referral was by phone, confirmation then came by mail. Waldhotel Soodener Hof. The hotel has a quiet and good location. Breakfast was good and adequate, rolls, sausage, jam, cheese, hot eggs, coffee. I'm afraid that's all. My room was freezing cold because no heating went. I was freezing all that stuff. The hallways had no light. The whole wellness area ice cold. Sauna only by prior appointment. After telephone contact with the deposited mobile number, a member of staff arrived in the late evening, in total there are two who helped me pack my bags again and move to the neighbouring Hotel Villa Werrablick. There went the heating, but the wellness area still ice cold. One night I slept there and the next morning I spoke to the staff member who prepared breakfast. After consultation with this one, this was probably a tried and tested problem. There are probably many rooms without heating and hallway light, at others the toilet flushing does not work and, and, and....My first room was well known for these mistakes. The employee advised me to call the boss, who was no longer answering the phone. The employee sent the boss pictures with the problem rooms, but no response. She also told me that many guests complain. I now asked to leave. She, in turn, informed the boss of this. Out of goodwill I should now pay 50€ and can then leave. I didn't comply with that, I only paid 30€. The boss then texted me to say that I don't determine the prices and he sent the whole thing to the collection office. I texted him to see if he was aware that he literally screwed up my whole vacation. I had arrival and departure two hours. My seven days advance payment of 86€ to the salt cave in Bad Soden Allendorf I unfortunately do not get back, that was actually one of the main reasons for my stay there. In the end, really only to cry and not to recommend from me.

Beautifully located hotel, unfortunately no restaurant, just a bed and breakfast with outdated furniture in the rooms. Beds were new and good. The access to the hotel is very steep and not in the best condition. However, this was not a problem in the current weather. Not for people with physical disabilities, as there are only stairs and very narrow bathroom doors. We booked a wellness package. Use of the sauna was only available by prior arrangement and, like the pool area, seemed deserted. A sauna towel or bathrobe is charged extra. Very unfriendly owner, who was even condescending, obviously overwhelmed. The few staff we saw were friendly. As we felt like supplicants and not guests, I can only advise against staying there.

We had a pleasant-2 night stay made all the more enjoyable by meeting the on-site owner-manager who clearly is making, and will be making, substantial improvements. These are already evident in the offering of the hotel spa, and in a very fine breakfast buffet. This served in the hotel restaurant which has a fine terrace and, like many of the bedrooms, has a spectacular view over the Bad Sooden-Allendorf and the Werra valley. The hotel is a 12 min walk up from the Bahnhof, 6 mins from the WerratalTherme (the salt baths). The rooms are modest, but very quiet and the views are lovely.
