Hotel Am Sonnenhang

This is a nice hotel, with good sized, clean rooms, and good facilities. The en suit had an excellent shower and a few essential items should you have forgotten the shower gel etc. Breakfast was well priced at 6 Euros per person and there was a good choice. Also good quality free wifi available. The thing that let this hotel down for me was the difficulty in booking. As 2 of us were travelling on business, we wanted a twin room. This place came up on Hotels.com, but only with a double room. So I phoned the hotel to see if they had any twins and was told, yes, they did, but I had to book via the hotels own homepage. Now as we were driving and I was trying to do all this via my phone, it was a bit tricky. I eventually got to the web page, only for "twin" not to be an option, and with doubles and triples all showing as fully booked. Another call to the hotel and the lady was not very helpful, saying, just try again in 10 minutes! I explained we were driving and could be there in 1 hour, can she just keep a room for us? Begrudgingly she agreed to keep the room until 4pm, this was still 15mins short of our estimated arrival time!!! When we arrived, i was met with "oh, so you are here then" If this place worked on its customer service, they would do very well.

Situated in a residential area on the outskirts of Kassel, this Gasthaus is ok for a short stay if you have a car. The rooms are decent, but it has been a few years since anything was last replaced or refreshed and that shows. Breakfast was mediocre at best and to be honest the service felt a bit indifferent and uninterested. Now, if prices had been lower this could all be acceptable but at around 80€ pr. night I do not feel the hotel lived up to expectations.

travelling back home from poland via germany we chose this through a booking site. the lady on reception was very welcoming and informative. our room was spotless and adequate for our needs with the cleanest bathroom ive ever seen in a hotel of any standard. we slept well on excellent beds, we had control of our own heating. breakfast was five euros and was plentiful, well presented and fab value for money. the views looking down over Kassel were magnificent
