Waldhotel Schaeferberg

The hotel is somewhat remote, located on a busy federal highway. The guesthouse is about 150 meters from the main building. Unfortunately, it is heavily used but not well maintained. The single rooms are very small, and everything is worn out in every corner. So nothing that is nice, and you can tell that you are getting the minimum. The breakfast is decent and the only bright spot to look forward to. Something needs to be done, otherwise it will no longer be worth the price.

Totally outdated room. Sleep is hard to think about thanks to noisy ventilation. For an alleged little dog painter, one wanted to collect 100€ extra, for an extra cleaning, for which one allegedly also had someone come extra. Funny just that the whole hotel was full of people with four-legged friends and we were not immediately approached about the alleged malheur of our dog, but only after we were looking for an attendant to pay. And after more than an hour! We would be treated like serious criminals and suspected of being intentional! The next morning, even the ladies at the reception were embarrassed to collect the money... We didn't pay that and after a week we were asked to transfer the 100€ again. You don't have words anymore... After our refusal, we are now on their blacklist... No more this hotel!

The rooms on the ground floor are in a very unrenovated condition. Brown furniture with various quirks, a tiny, beige bath which seems dingy. (Very probably left like this since the 70s...) High shower entry with a slippery shower track, indiscussable for people with reduced mobility. Soap and shower gear in the dispenser, unfortunately the type with the air intake on top, which is unhygienic. Ventilation is moderate, there are silverfish in the bath. There are various stains on the carpet, creepy - I recommend a crime scene cleaner. With the double bed one mattress was uncomfortable with noticeable feathers, the other good. There is no minibar (not even a bottle of water) and no room service, drinks can be picked up at the reception open 24/7. Also there is no safe in the room, no shoeshine, no cotton swabs, etc., but that is probably all at the reception. However, there is a bag for the existing laundry service and sewing equipment in the drawer. In the lower area there are also the seminars and function rooms, who is unlucky with noise until 3 and again from 8 am, the area is very noisy. In summer, the nearby highway is also clearly audible when the window is open. Now in winter, on our arrival the rooms were extremely overheated, turning off the heating and ventilating unfortunately did not help on the first night, the second was better. The staff at the hotel are friendly, the food good German cuisine, in the normal setting. Breakfast sufficient. If you wonder how the positive reviews came about here - in the upper area there are supposed to be renovated rooms, which are probably much better. I didn't use the sauna or the fitness equipment. The unprotected Wi-Fi works well. In the basement there is a bar with a smoking room, which smells so much like smoke that I cannot/will not stay there. Well-behaved dogs are allowed in the hotel. Conclusion: For a 4 star hotel room in unacceptable condition. Massive renovation needs, missing components. I've been to non-starred guesthouses with a better ambience. Staff and food ok.
