Traveled with a group. Room #100 had no air conditioning and we asked twice for a fan but each time the desk attendant never returned to the desk with a fan. Right on the river however the train runs quite often and is quite noisy as well as the beeping tone for the traffic crossing bars across the road. Lived in Germany twice and traveled all over Europe and this was the least updated room we ever stayed in during an overnight stay. Hotel is definitely in need of an upgrade. Nice and polite staff.

The Park hotel is situated right in the middle of the Christmas market. Jump out of your window and you would land on a stall.
The hotel is an older hotel so don’t expect ultra modern decor in your room. Our room 206 was spotless, warm and inviting. We were lucky to have a room overlooking the river Rhine with a Juliette balcony. Some rooms have a full balcony with seating.
All amenities in the room worked well, kettle, tv, safe. The bathroom had two sinks and a large bath with shower over it. Plenty of hot water and a decent hair dryer. There were old fixings for a toilet roll holder left in the wall, the room could do with new paint and a drain in the floor that had had seen better days. But it was clean, smelled fresh and no mould. The hand wash and shower gel smelled of a high quality pine fragrance.
We had no complaints with our room.
There is no air con and the hotel is situated right next to the railway tracks. So in hot weather you may hear the night trains if you have the windows open. There is a level crossing that sounds a bell when the gates are going down opposite the hotel. When the windows are shut the train noise is negligible. We loved hearing and seeing the trains.
We did hear noise from above but no noise from rooms next to us. There is a ski bar joined onto the hotel. Great fun with happy German songs and the clientele joining in singing. This is open until late so can be noisy. It has wood chippings all over the floor and real Christmas trees inside, smells wonderful.
The Christmas decor of the hotel was lovely and the staff friendly and helpful.
The food for breakfast was the usual breads, jam, croissants, small fairy cakes, yoghurts, cereals, fruit, meats, cheeses, pate, salads, herring, boiled and scrambled eggs and sausage. No complaints.
The food is cooked fresh and everything we ate for evening meal was delicious. There is a small bar area which is relaxing and cosy.
We went on the cable car just before dusk so we could see the town and vineyards in daylight. Then came down in the night to see the lights of Bingen opposite and Rudesheim.
We also did the river cruise at weekends to visit Rheinstein Castle - the Christmas Castle. There is a long steep zig zag path up to the castle from the river mooring and it would have been handy to know about this before going. But once in the castle it was stunning. A medieval style dream. Children’s story telling in costume, a knight fighting a dragon drama in the castle keep.
Plenty of Christmas decorations everywhere. We went at 2pm and stayed until it went dark to see it lit up at night.
We stayed four nights and would definitely return to the Park Hotel.
