Garden

I visited this hotel for the second time; the rooms have been renovated, though there is no air conditioning, and the staff provided good service. There is parking right in front of the entrance, with space even for a large vehicle. The man at the reception recommended a place for dinner in the evening—a pleasant surprise, and the price was low. I recommend it. Near Lidl and big shoppingmall (1km)

We were here 7 times at the predecessor hotel Garden, now for the 1st time at the Garner. We are very disappointed with the breakfast; there was hardly anything at the buffet. The breakfast at the Garden was always very rich and varied; there was also antipasti, cold cuts, tomato-mozzarella,.... The current breakfast is far from that. Although breakfast was supposed to be available until 10:30 a.m., there was hardly anything left by 9:20 a.m.

I spent one night here and chose the hotel because it was within walking distance to the concert venue and relatively inexpensive. However, I was already aware that it would not become my favorite hotel. The positive aspects include the staff at the reception; they were very friendly during check-in and check-out. And the general cleanliness as well. The room itself and the bed (which was also very comfortable) were generally clean. However, the room and the bathroom are quite outdated and urgently need modernization. It felt more like a visit to grandma's than a hotel stay. In some pictures, it looks more modern; perhaps they are in the process of updating - my room certainly was not part of that. The furnishings were slowly falling apart; slats from the shelf had already come off, there were stains on the furniture, holes in the sink, and the grout in the bathroom was anything but nice. Water barely drained in the shower, and there was no hot water either in the afternoon or the next morning. My room was in a small separate hallway with four rooms, so I was looking forward to a quiet night, but the rooms are so poorly soundproofed that I could hear the neighbor's videos, and when the cleaning staff started working the next morning, the doors were slammed. It sounded as if the vacuum cleaner was already in my room, even though they were just next door; sleeping in was out of the question. There is also no air conditioning, so it got very warm at night. In the reception area, there was a large swarm of flies both days; I honestly don't know why something isn't done about that. The reception area is not pleasant; at least traps could be set up. If I come to an event in Bremen again, I would prefer to invest a bit more money and book the Innside. I book a lot with IHG and believe that IHG has not done itself any favors with the Garner brand and the acquisition of Novum Hotels in Germany. This was the third stay in a Garner, only one was "okay" - although I find that even the other budget chains like niu or Holiday Inn Express are great. Unfortunately, Garner is a major flop and does not meet the usual IHG standard.
