Hotel Sprenz

I have been an irregular guest at the Hotel Sprenz for almost two years for professional reasons. During this time I never met anyone at the reception – the room key is always stored in the key safe. The breakfast offer varies depending on the day of the week: On Mondays and Tuesdays it is rather reduced, from Wednesday the selection is average. Scrambled eggs are prepared at 6:30 a.m. in the morning and remain available while supplies last. The inventory has become visibly old. The carpets on the stairs sometimes have holes, doors and wood applications have damaged veneers – which is not inviting when you enter the room. After all, the beverage vending machine works again after more than a year. The room rates fluctuate greatly, regardless of the time of booking. Compared to the competition, they seem high at first glance, which can be explained with certainty in terms of business management. Rooms are cleaned regularly, but heating is often down-regulated. Dust on the towel rails had dried up to such an extent that it could not be dissolved even with water. Previously, a friendly staff member was always present at breakfast, who fulfilled special requests and took time for a nice conversation. Now you get your filter coffee from a small pot yourself.

Central location but not all rooms are adequately heated. I spent 2 nights there for work and the room did not warm up. Breakfast is modest and the fruit selection poor. Breakfast until 09:00 is not sufficient for tourists. Room partly too noisy (street/fans). I wouldn't book there privately.

Pros: The room was clean and the bed ok. Also the breakfast' was ok, unfortunately only filter coffee. Cons: Far too few parking spaces in the backyard, the “free” parking spaces shown on the plan are limited to 1h, which is why I had to move the car tomorrow first. The room was only accessible via the courtyard, poorly in rain and in winter. The courtyard is brightly lit throughout, but unfortunately the room does not have sufficient darkening. The room has no fridge and no safe. The knob for the shower was broken off and loosely put back on, so that the shower was not usable. The package of cosmetic wipes was empty. Cleaning the bathroom seems to be a problem for the hotel.
