I was allowed to travel to Wismar with a colleague for the business meeting; so why not stay in the Hanse House, despite the dubious mixing of two languages in the name? The lobby seemed quite cozy with various couches and fireplace, the location is pleasantly central. But then at check-in the surprise: While we were paying the same fee, one of us was staying in a nicely cut, spacious room near the entrance, with seating area and other amenities. The other was allowed to go up one floor and was housed at the very end of the corridor – in a much smaller and noticeably less charming room. The two-class society is thus also noticeable here; meanwhile, as I said, the costs are identical! Asked about this astonishing discrepancy, I am met with bizarre logic at the reception: “I thought you were happy!” After all, accommodation on a higher floor – including having to bring up the suitcase, etc. – is a bonus of its own, according to the perplexing explanation. How can you react to this differently than by shaking your head in disbelief? But in the evening this: Having long since settled in my cabin (while the colleague was relaxing in his palace room at his elegant table), I could now have a larger room if my complaint. That surprised me even more: If bigger rooms are vacant anyway, why didn't I get punched right into one? True, it was thought that I would be happy if I was disadvantaged; in Wismar, less is apparently really more. I declined, tired of the effort, thankfully, and indeed the free drink delivered as a substitute could compensate for my dissatisfaction. Is everything going to be okay in the Hanseatic House? Unfortunately no – because a little later, the lobby had already closed there because after 9 pm (while the advertising flyer of the house states “10 pm” as curfew), I was allowed to find that my chamber does not have a proper internet reception. The reception: closed. Demand from the luxuriously spoiled colleague: WiFi runs flawlessly! So what was left for me to write urgent emails? I had to settle down on a lost armchair in the middle of the ground floor hallway in order to be able to handle at least the most urgent matters digitally. Unfortunately, my laptop only had 18% power and there was no outlet in sight to improve my absurd situation. So I sat there until electricity and mood finally ran out. – Breakfast, by the way, did not yield much pleasure a few hours later to reflect a vote other than the one given here. For friends of the “digital detox”, this accommodation is highly recommended; everyone else should consider whether this surprise box is really worth the trouble. In the direction of the staff, I hope that they will be pleased with this meeting.

Friendly welcome and super first impression.
Would have liked to give 5 points.
There was hair in bed. It's too bad.
Would still come back though.

In August 2025 we cycled from Swinoujscie to Lübeck. We often let ourselves drift without booking big first. We are happy to call hotels in larger cities in the afternoon, because there is usually also a nice restaurant in the immediate vicinity. In Wismar, we almost miscalculated, because it was “Sweden Festival” that night. A “small room under roof” was offered to us and ..we loved:
The room was long rather than small. Under the slopes, the carpenter had cleverly installed long chests, which offered an enormous storage space. This is especially pleasantly important for us cyclists with our daily micromanagement of luggage.
We also expected a certain amount of heat under the roof on this summer day – only, everything was probably tempered. Staff were very friendly on both days. Evening we sat in the lounge a little longer and felt very, very comfortable at Hans House Wismar.
