Gasthaus Bonneberger Hof

We had a delicious meal in the restaurant. It's good German food, tasty. Good schnitzel, salad on the side. Good beer. Wine is on the expensive side. Excellent attentive service. The interior is pleasantly decorated. You can also spend the night there, we didn't do that.

It's a Gasthaus rather than a hotel, and therefore you expect more basic accommodation - which is what you get here, but it's more than enough for a comfortable stay. The room was large, and whilst basic, comfortable. The breakfast was again fairly basic but good quality. Unfortunately we didn't stay here in the evening so cannot comment on the restaurant or bar. The reception normally closes at 2100 or 2200, but I was in contact in advance and they were able to accommodate a late arrival no problem. I'd be happy to stay here again.

There were not many guests at our moment of stay. We had asked for a quiet room and were given one looking out on the parking ( with a lorry unloading at 3.30am!!) and right by the entrance door to the floor ( one could hear every single word from the hallway). Not very nice experience; Even worse was the disgusting SMELL in the hotel and especially in the bathroom. It stunk of gutters. The bath room was tiny and when you sat on the toilet, your knees touched the wall and the shower. The quality of the beds was only average.
