This was not our first stay at the Steigenberger Hotel Bad Neuenahr. The pleasant quiet, the spacious and comfortably equipped rooms, as well as the very beautiful spa area with pool and sauna remain convincing. The central location and the proximity to the public parking garage are also clear plus points.
The development of the gastronomic offerings is all the more disappointing. The former hotel restaurant 1858 with its excellent cuisine was eliminated without replacement. Instead, there is only the Bistro Ora with a very limited menu. The food offered is acceptable, but it is more reminiscent of a fast-food restaurant than the dining of a hotel in this category.
Equally disturbing is the smoking policy in the outdoor areas. Both at breakfast and on the bistro terrace, smokers sit directly among the other guests. For non-smokers, this is very unpleasant and, in our view, does not fit the quality standards of a hotel of this category. A clear separation of smoking and non-smoking areas should be created here urgently.
For an establishment that advertises with high standards, these developments mean a significant loss of quality and unfortunately diminish the overall positive impression considerably.
