Moers van der Valk Hotel

On arrival we were assigned room 201. Had requested a room on the ground floor (Is there the basement) because of mobility of wife. These were all taken, however. Upon entering the room the heat met you. Hot as hell. Air conditioning was not present. Just a small ventialtor that couldn't possibly cool the room. The fridge could hardly handle the temperature and did little. Before dinner, I went to the room. The heat had only increased. Not to be. Decided to make another attempt at the reception for another room. This time a young lady who was very cooperative and exceptionally gave us a room on the ground floor (basement) with terrace. She didn't understand that they dropped us in room 201. We very happy with this, otherwise we would have gone home again. Although this room was also very warm, also had no air conditioning, it was here to endure by opening the terrace door. Incidentally, there appeared to be more rooms available next to us (why lie first). The care is otherwise good and of course the excellent vdValk breakfast. Dinner was average. Staff are otherwise nice. The rooms could certainly use a revamp. Restaurant though a nice large terrace. Beds were fine. Although we hung the towels on the hook, they were still changed every day. Several trips to Essen, Oberhausen and Dusseldorf. This hotel honestly did not meet our expectations. If we go that way again, we will not book Hotel vdValk Moers anymore. A previous stay at vdValk Gladbeck has pleased us many times better.

I was at the hotel during the hottest days of this month. To my surprise, there was no air conditioning in the room. Because of this we had a few terrible nights. There was only one moderately working fan. The mini fridge didn't actually work. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were good. There is a closed area for bicycles.

The very large hotel is good in the entrance area, restaurant, and terrace. The rooms do not have air conditioning, face the street, and especially near the Tesla charging stations, it is very noisy. The bathrooms are okay, the rooms are musty with somewhat old furniture. The breakfast does not have sugar-free muesli, sweetened fruit, eggs from a package, and reheated rolls... well. Overall, not recommended - beware on warm days!!!
