Mercure Duesseldorf City Center

Still pretty good for location, but it could do with a refurb! That said, the staff are lovely, always freindly, and the rooms are comfortable. It is a shame that the bar appears to be permanently closed, as it looks like a pleasant place to chill out for a bit in the evening.

We unfortunately only had one night getting Mercure, Düsseldorf City. On the occasion of a musical visit and visit to the city. We were very happy about the upgrade and the welcome treatment. The room was clean and functionally equipped, though somewhat old. Nevertheless super comfortable beds and everything to our satisfaction. Cosy bar in the evening with friendly service. Excellent extensive breakfast buffet the next day. No wishes remained unfulfilled and here again the service friendly and courteous. As Diamond Member we got early check-in and late check-out. Thank you. Located not far from the train station. We could easily reach it on foot and also explored the city center and the old town on foot. Many thanks to the whole team for a nice pleasant stay. Anytime gladly again and highly recommended.

I checked in to two rooms and checked out 15 minutes later - literally leaving without even knowing where we would go next, just to get out of there. The hotel is extremely outdated. It looks like it hasn’t been renovated in 40 years. The overall condition barely reaches a 1-star level. Everything feels worn, neglected, and frozen in time. The worst part is the smell throughout the entire property - in the lobby, hallways, and inside the rooms. It’s a strong, unpleasant odor, hard to even define. It could be old dampness, an overused disinfectant or cleaning chemical, or mold, or simply the smell of a very old building and furniture. Whatever the source, it is overwhelming and very uncomfortable. I do want to make it clear that the staff seemed professional, polite, and attentive. It appears they are doing their best to maintain cleanliness and provide good service. My criticism is directed solely at the physical condition of the hotel and at the ownership that continues to operate and host guests in a property in this state.
