Mercure Duesseldorf Ratingen

Due to a very early flight from Düsseldorf, our travel agency reserved a room for us at this hotel. Friendly welcome by staff. Room 269 was already available. The room is functional and sufficiently spacious. Unfortunately it smelled musty and from the bathroom came a sewage smell (not good). Location relative to Düsseldorf city center and airport is good.

Arriving tired, receptionist uninterested, walks away in the middle of conversation. Transfer from/to airport?? Book a taxi for 40€. We went into the restaurant to sit down. Can we order some food? Oh, no. No kitchen today. You go to the Chinese 2 km away. Oh don't you have a car? Not my f...ing problem. Go to the Mac, then. No, no happy customer here.

Were here last August (see review below). Also to be emphasized this time: Very friendly staff! Unfortunately no air conditioning in the room, which was not so great in the current heat days. If you leave the window a bit open, you can hear the nearby highway already clearly. However, it is very conveniently located for visits to the surrounding cities Essen, Mülheim, Düsseldorf...The pillows we found a bit uncomfortable, small and quite hard this time. Minibar and a free bottle of water for Accor members would be nice... The breakfast buffet (there was a special price of 14.90 € during our visit) we found very good: Nicely arranged, decent selection, all fresh.
