Intercity Essen

Our room was not available at check in and the hotel receptionist had a disgusting attitude. She told us to go somewhere else if we didn’t like it and she didn’t have the energy for us. We have waited almost an hour and still no clue when we’ll get in.

Superb location next to the main train station, and a short walk to loads of shops and restaurants. Parking was easy enough at the back of the hotel. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Room was fine, as you would expect really. En-suite was good, modern and the shower was good. I would definitely stay again if visiting Essen.

Good central location, good breakfast and newly renovated rooms and bathroom. It was also very clean. In the lobby you could also watch the European Championship game and get drinks at the bar. Parking is available on site or across the street for 13€ 24h. The only downside are the small pillows and the rooms towards the main station. There are a lot of trains coming through at night and unfortunately you cannot sleep with the windows open. But there is air conditioning in the room.
