Am Markt Ratingen

We used the hotel as base for our visit to the Wire and Trade show in Dusseldorf. It is close to publice transport and this helped us a lot. Although the hotel is in need of a make-over the stay was very pleasant. The breakfast is typically European - no English breakfast available though. The area is very nice with plenty of restaurants and shop to cater for everybody.

We choose this hotel as our first night stay from Europort for our motorbike tour to the Harz Mountains. The entrance for the hotel is tucked between the bank & shop then up a flight of stairs to reception. The gentleman at reception could not have been more helpful. He’s English was very good, he booked us in and on completion took us to the hotels underground carpark which was locked at night to show us where we could park our motorbike overnight, free of charge. The hotel is looking a little dated but well kept. Our room (9) was spacious with everything we needed and lovely view of the church & towards the square. We stayed on a Monday night and did hear the Market stalls being set out very early the next morning but this did not bother us. The bathroom was also a good size again looking its years but in good working order and clean. Breakfast was the usual continental style. This hotel & Ratingen town is a quite gem. In the square there is good Beer house Frankenheim Brauerei-Ausschank Bürgerhaus Ratingen which also sells food. But for best beer & food and ambience try Schlüssel Brauereiausschank "Zu den drei Königen" Düsseldorfer Str. 1, 40878 Ratingen.
