Service disaster and rude staff! Absolutely not recommended. Anyone looking for a smooth process for a tour group should steer clear of the Mercure Hotel Kaarst. Our stay with around 30 people was an absolute nightmare in terms of service. Since some participants canceled at short notice, we wanted to redistribute the rooms flexibly. This simple request was immediately dismissed by the only staff member present, who was annoyed and called it an unreasonable extra effort. Nevertheless, we handed in the new occupancy list – with the promise that it would be taken care of. In the end, we stood around stupidly for THREE HOURS. With every inquiry, the responsibility was shifted, and no one felt responsible. It borders on an insolence that you have to exert massive pressure and insist persistently just to be allowed to exchange a word with someone in charge. Customer friendliness looks different. As if that were not enough, the room cards locked us out the next day because they had incompetently been activated for only one day. The fact that this was then corrected "in a reasonable amount of time" does not save the stay either. Conclusion: The front office is completely incompetent, inflexible, and overwhelmed. Never again!

The hotel offers spacious rooms; the service with the water dispenser to the side of the reception is nice, you can take a water bottle to your room. I could not operate the coffee machine with the capsules despite the instruction sheet. But the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was convenient, only when switching the water flow to shower mode, water came out of the side of the hose. The hair dryer worked great. But the recessed toilet paper dispenser is not very practical. For me, the end of the paper got stuck inside, so I could no longer reach the toilet paper installed at the appropriate height, but the spare paper at floor level was still available. The glass dome on the top floor looks very appealing. I do not know, however, how it affects things in extreme heat.
