Remscheider Hof

Overall, we were very unhappy with the Hotel MK in Remscheid. The first room was not nice, strangely decorated and unfortunately not clean. Since the heating was broken, we got a second room, but there the map did not work. So we had to move into a third room, room 503. We saw the maid in the hallway by the elevators, and she was just busy with her cell phone. The bathroom had very moldy, dirty walls, and even in the walls of the room everything was completely dirty. Each room had only one simple piece of sports equipment, and a proper fitness area was missing. The reception staff were often on their phones, smoking outside, and a friendly hello was the exception. The shower was moldy, and the play area was dangerous as it lay under a dartboard. We didn't try the food. Positive was only the location directly at the main train station, but the restaurant and ambience were simple middle class. Coffee should be free for the hotel guests, and likewise breakfast should be included in the price, instead of charging 10 or 17 euros extra, especially because it did not meet the standard. For 60 euros per night the price-performance ratio was far too expensive. We would therefore not recommend the hotel.

Hotel easy to find and the room was fine. The window in the bathroom was open when I arrived. Took a while to get warm. Thumbs up for lactose-free milk at the breakfast buffet. Unfortunately there was only butter and no alternative. The most popular white bread rolls where all gone, the tables weren’t cleared quick enough so everyone there at the same time as me had to search for cutlery . 5 out of 6 types of the highly advertised organic jam were empty.

At here are good points and a few bad points. No aircon, it was 31 degrees and we only had a fan in our room. The traffic noise was loud but it was way too hot to have the window closed. The room was sooooo hot we couldn’t sleep. The smell ……it hit me as soon as the elevator door opened … not pleasant at all. The room, basic, great for an overnighter, but what is with all the broken gym equipment in the room?. A hook in the ceiling hahhahah and the huge exercise mat…it was smelly, so I had to move it into the hallway. Then noticed that the floor hadn’t been cleaned for a long time. Bonus- the bathroom towels were soft. Restaurant- dinner was a very basic menu. Staff excellent Breakfast, excellent! Great selection.
