City Hotel Neubrunnenhof

Room was quite small but clean and tidy. An older hotel with lots of character. Located down a short laneway with courtyard parking. Staff were really nice, helpful and spoke English. Breakfast buffet was fantastic. We were disappointed by size of room and bathroom but that is governed by age of hotel. Wifi was ok but required a new password each day. Everything we needed was within walking distance. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Mainz.

This Hotel is not worth the time/money. I went here during the month of June, not high summer, for business. When I get to a hotel I expected a few things; - Air conditioning - an easy to reach room My room had no air conditioning, it was stuck away in the back of the hotel (no rooms nearby). the room was above the entrance/exit of the hotel. Breakfast next day was decent, however the breakfast room was small, so I had to share my table with someone else. The hotel felt old and not well maintained. It is not something you expect when paying 100 euro's for a night. I would skip this hotel and go for a hotel that would be slightly (30/40 euro's) more expensive.

We stayed here for just one night, just as we were about to embark on a biking tour down the Rhine. Without being exceptional, it's a great value, clean hotel. We were well welcomed - the reception staff all spoke excellent English - and our room was compact, perhaps a little 'tired' in appearance, but fine. The shower was, however, a little disappointing, and really should have been better. Breakfast was traditional German buffet, and excellent. Had everything I wanted, and more. We also had a drink in their bar area in the evening. Very cosy, and not overpriced. Would certainly stop here again..........but I'd like a better shower next time if I have Room 202 again............PLEASE!!
