MERCURE HOTEL SAARBRUECKEN SUE

Worst hotel ever. Bedbugs all over my room . I've got about 30 bites in my body.

Stayed here twice this week with my coach group from the UK. The hotel is located directly next to the former Gestapo camp Neue Bremm memorial (some rooms look straight out onto it), which can feel quite sombre for some guests. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and most of the staff were friendly and professional. Overall, the hotel itself was pleasant and perfectly adequate for our stay. Unfortunately, our experience at breakfast was very different. The lady in charge of the breakfast service (Mrs. Kleber) was consistently rude and confrontational towards my group and other guests. She shouted at people for using the “wrong” cup or tongs and even accused guests of stealing food. My group consisted largely of elderly, very polite travellers, so this treatment was particularly disappointing and unnecessary. It is a shame, because apart from this one individual, the hotel, the food, and the rest of the staff were all very nice. However, the behaviour we experienced at breakfast left a poor final impression and is something management should seriously address, as it detracts from what would otherwise be a positive stay.

I just stayed one night here and apart from the lovely young woman receptionist, all the other staff were sullen and rude. There seems to be a toxic attitude set by senior staff that’s pervasive. The rooms were clean and functional a reasonable, though cold , selection for breakfast. I wouldn’t stay again.
