PLAZA

Our experience here was generally good, the dining room staff were exceptional and organised a large table especially for our group , the rooms were spotless and very roomy and the breakfast was outstanding. Off street parking at rear with a small charge and a nice Greek restaurant minutes down the street. While we stayed here both heading and returning to from Germany, there was a thought to cancel our return due to an isolated hurtful and insulting interaction from a member of check-in staff. His personal views expressed to us were far from appropriate. I did communicate with the hotel and group, and following responses, I hope it was addressed internally. I would recommend the hotel, though.

The hotel has aged. Our room was on the street side with a corresponding noise level. There was no air conditioning, and the room was very hot. The small cabinet, where a refrigerator apparently once stood, was screwed shut from the outside. The booked double bed turned out to be a French bed, which was too narrow for us. We skipped breakfast.

The hotel is about a 20-minute tram ride from the train station. Check-in was not the best feature of this hotel. I asked about a safe for my valuables, but the check-in receptionist did not know whether the rooms had safes. I asked about it in the reception area, and the answer was no. There was no safe in the room either. The rooms are old, with outdated furniture. The pillows on the bed were flat and very uncomfortable. I did not have breakfast during my stay at the hotel. This hotel should be rated 1*. I have stayed in much nicer Ibis Budget Hotels. When I checked out, I said thank you, and the old man behind the desk replied with just a grunt.
