Hotel Berliner Hof

The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room was spacious, and the beds were comfortable. The hotel is located close to the Color Line terminal. That covers the positives. This is the first time I’ve written a review while actually sitting at breakfast. We are here at 9:00 AM on a Saturday. There is only one person working in the breakfast room. There is a limited selection of cold cuts and spreads, and what little there is has almost run out. We waited a bit to see if more would arrive, but it took a long time. When it was finally brought out, she was carrying a stack of cold cuts in her hands. A plus, at least, for the fact that she was wearing gloves. There was no allergen labeling on any of the items. We ran out of coffee cups twice in the span of 10 minutes. I asked for cups, and she said she would sort it out. I heard a lot of clattering from the kitchen, so it seemed they didn't have enough cups and had to wash them on the fly to keep up. In the end, we used glasses for our coffee. The staff member seemed stressed, which is completely understandable. Management really ought to schedule more staff for the weekend. The breakfast experience significantly detracts from the overall experience here.

It's been 38 degrees outside and over 40 degrees inside the room tonight. I called the front desk and was told that this was a well-known problem and that the AC stopped working when it got hot outside. And I who always believed that AC would cool down the warm rooms at least there was nothing that the young gentleman could help me with, other than to say a half-consolating word that it will be a little more driving overnight. It did not!! Our BTW room window is facing a very busy street with most emergency vehicles throughout Kiel driving with full sirenes even though there is no car in sight. Poor breakfast with little choice. The hotel is recommended on the Warmest not☀️ The room itself is ok, but very strange to have hole with mirror from the bedroom and into the shower🤔

A very pleasant discovery! The location is perfect, central and yet quiet. I have stayed in a a beautiful renovated room. Simply perfect! Nice and tasty breakfast in a cozy dining area. Vey friendly and helping personnel. Great quiet vibe and atmosphere.Alredy ordered three more stays during the year. Highly recommended!
