Romantik Hotel Kieler Kaufmann

My first time in Kiel. Hotel is in a residential area nicely tucked away surrounded by trees. We had a sort of ' suite ' reserved which was in the ' new ' part of the hotel, small separate lounge was practical e.g. flat tv also flat tv in quite small bedroom. Cupboard space ok, bathroom walk in shower good size, no separate wc. More supervision with room service/housekeeping wouldn't go amiss - room service is every two days so our coffee cups and coffee pods & glasses weren't replenished and beds weren't made up, a bit more attention is needed in cleanliness in certain parts of the room(s) e.g. shower area/appliances. Breakfast buffet was normal as to be expected. One evening we had dinner in the ' Kaufmann's ' restaurant, weather was still warm enough for us to sit outside on the terrace - atmosphere was pleasantly quiet even though the whole terrace was occupied by guests for dinner in both restaurants, one of which was a '1 star Michelin'. Staff were all very polite/friendly. Menu was excellent, portions more than adequate - high in quality. Nevertheless the hotel is very much worth the visit.

Really cozy and peaceful surroundings, with both several food options and a spa. Super friendly staff. We will definitely visit hotel romantik kieler kaufmann again.

Check-in was fast and hassle-free: My room and bathroom in the new building on the reception level had an acceptable but not good standard. One wonders about screwed-on shower gel in the shower and is annoyed by the very small sink. The room was quite small and a bit noisy, the bed quite comfortable, but the soft pillows disadvantageous; one expects a reasonable neck-gentle shaped pillow. Swimming pool, spa, restaurant and bar I did not use and cannot be commented. - Breakfast was quite good and quite arranged. I had no view from the breakfast room due to the darkness in the early morning. My overall impression: A classic hotel, now a bit bastardized, in a very good quiet location outside the city center with quite good, though not special, accommodation standard and good breakfast. Priced too expensive for what I'm offered.
