Columbia Hotel Casino Travemuende

We spent a week at this superb hotel overlooking the beach at Travemunde. Our standard room was excellent with a good seating area, comfortable bed, Nespresso machine, fridge with some free soft drinks and a complimentary bottle of champagne. Breakfast was very good with decent buffet and good freshly prepared options. We had a first rate dinner there one night but Travemunde has good dining options. There is a good bar and outside terrace and seating on the lawns. The sauna area is good too and there is an indoor pool. The staff were generally very helpful and rooms were cleaned promptly each day. WiFi was fine and the TV had Sky News. We had a minor dispute over daily water for the room which was satisfactorily resolved. The hotel has its own ice cream cafe open during the day but it would be nice to have drinks and coffee on the terrace during the day too. But overall this was a great place to stay in an attractive North German resort.

Disappointing experience due to poor services The hotel left a rather outdated impression overall and could not live up to expectations. However, the negative review was mainly due to the way guests were treated. Inquiries and concerns were not handled professionally, but were answered in an inappropriate and unrespectful tone. Instead of addressing situations individually or offering solutions, a very inflexible and distant behavior was shown. A service-oriented approach was unfortunately not discernible, not even on the part of employees with higher responsibilities. Overall, there was a clear lack of customer orientation and understanding of the location of the guests. For this reason, I would not recommend this accommodation and advise looking for an alternative.

A very nice stately spa hotel. We were greeted warmly and with our booking everything went smoothly. The hotel is a bit old and needs renovation in many places. From the shower, because of old rubber seal, the water always ran into the entire bathroom. The breakfast was excellent and left nothing to be desired, we were disappointed by the dinner at Holstein’s. Canned champignons in deer goulash is unfortunately a no go. The wellness area is beautifully designed and cozy. Overall, I would personally award the hotel a solid 4 stars. The price of 250€ for two nights in a single room is fine.
