My wife and I spent 3 nights at this hotel. The hotel is immaculately maintained in a late 19th century style and the service was top class. The location is a short walk from all the best restaurants and sites in beautiful Weimar. Rudolf at the front desk went out of his way to help us with every possible request and we had several. I felt like an extra in the movie Amadeus and expected a guy with a silver wig to walk in at any moment.

For the sake of nuance: when hotel prices are higher, I always get a bit more critical. Then my expectations are a bit higher than at a budget motel. Hence the perhaps a bit fussy review. The hotel is beautifully situated on the edge of the old town. Bus stops, shops and downtown are literally on your doorstep. The interior is beautiful and chic. Lots of statues, paintings and grandeur in the general areas. Very nice and attentive staff, from receptionist to cleaning. The fact that guests are smoking (and drinking) right outside the door is disgusting to me and always detracts from the entrance of every company. Designate a smoking spot. Breakfast (reichhaltiges Frühstück für 28,00 € pro Pers./Tag. ) is not as eager as you might expect for €28!!!. Hotel breakfasts are often too expensive anyway, but 28,- is a high outlier. Who can eat for 28,- at breakfast? Scandalous amount of money for a reasonably limited breakfast offer. Scrambled or boiled egg, no fried eggs; 1 type of pastry/cake; no young or stale cheese, but various French cheeses; kaiserbrödchen or small croissants, nothing more! (At least the fresh bread to cut was on...) The choice of toppings was also limited (but a lot of cold cuts) and was only moderately or late supplemented. There was cult! Let me be clear: one does not starve there, but for 28,- pp you can eat whatever you want in any restaurant and it will also be served. I had the einzelzimmer, fine room, spacious and equipped with a desk / workspace. Unfortunately, there are dozens of holes in the curtain. The sink is old, torn and discolored. Very faded glory. Can't do that for the money. And strange, because the rest of the room was whole and clean. We also had the junior suite. The hotel is located at the front of the hotel. Where other reviews say the hotel is quiet, that is true for the inside. From the hotel one hears nothing! In front of the door is a large street and we often heard ambulance and police sirens. The test of time is also noticeable in this room. The bathroom door fell out of the rebate during a nighttime toilet visit: indeed, came completely loose from the frame. But no apologies or compensation for your hard-earned € 500,- accommodation costs. That's a shame. It was quickly and well repaired. All in all: I had to lower my expectations a bit. But if you have the money and are a bit less spoiled than me; you can stay here just fine.
