Ariston

The Ariston is close to Larissa station, so it is very convenient for the red metro line, and you can easily get around. Check-in was easy, and we appreciated being able to do so early. We had a room without a balcony, which meant we had a window that looked onto a wall with air-conditioning units. Not great, as the units whirred all night. The bed was ok. TV only has Greek channels, except for a Macedonian one, which has some English content. The Wifi was good. The bathroom had a bath, but no plug. The toilet roll dispenser is frustrating to use. The biggest downside is the smoking and smell throughout the hotel and rooms. While smoking is not permitted in rooms, people smoke on balconies or out the windows, and it all seems to be sucked back inside the hotel. As non-smokers, we found this made the stay hard. The rooftop restaurant was good for dinner, and the breakfast was ok. Staff were good. Checkout was easy. If you want to save money on accommodation and have transport convenience, this hotel is good. If we stayed again, we would choose a balcony room, and hope the smoke was not as bad.

We didn’t actually stay here but we were sorry we didn’t know about it. We dined here in a lovely roof top room overlooking Athens to the west. Very neat and clean one would expect the rooms to be of the same standard. They also do a very nice breakfast for walk ins for 7 Euro. Easy level walk to Lariss metro / train station and in a very cosmopolitan urban area. On a busy corner, traffic noise could be a bit of a problem but check for a rear room. We would definitely stay here next time if possible. Staff were very friendly.

Small rooms, miniature bed, dated furniture and facilities. Even toilet paper is locked … it’s a nightmare trying to use. Very inconvenient shower cubicles. No coffee maker or water in room on checkin. Opposite a metro station but otherwise nothing around - need to walk 15-20 min to find a supermarket or go near some touristy area. And very lonely roads. Very average breakfast, dirty dining area.
