Best Western Zinon

This place was the most disgusting hotel I have ever seen. The walls had stains on them, the bedsheets had lipstick and stains that looked like urine on them, the doors were covered in dirt and grime, paint on the wall and wallpaper was peeling. The lampshades had stains and dead insects stuck to them and hadn't been dusted in years. The carpet was not vacuumed, and I cringed every time I had to walk across the room. The heater/AC smelled bad when I turned it on and was covered in dust. The dresser had dirt and crumbs in the drawers. The backroom tub had stains and the bathroom was not clean. In general, the room was absolutely filthy, run-down and gross. If I could give this place a 0 , I would. To make matters worse, there was a knife fight that broke out in one of the neighboring rooms and we had to call the front desk because a woman was screaming that a man was pulling a knife on her. The other rooms were occupied by low-income residents who were staying there on a long term basis. I know this because I saw that they had moved rice cookers and other appliances into the rooms. It felt more like we were staying in public housing rather than in a hotel. They were all friendly and kind to us, but it did not feel like a hotel. Do not stay here - I needed to sanitize all of my belongings after leaving and couldn't even eat in the room due to the sickening stench. Every time we entered the room, my stomach churned. Maybe the stench was embedded in the carpet. I was appalled that we paid $81 a night to stay in this dump.

We stayed for two nights, rooms and bathroom were clean. Not the best neighborhood but if you are looking to walk around Athens the hotel is very close to attractions. Food was very good and the staff helpful. They also have a rooftop terrace from where you can see the Acropolis with a pretty nice view.

The hotel is really nice for a 3 stars hotel. The personnel is kindly and the room comfortable enough. Nice view from the terrace on the rooftop The neighborhood is really bad. Hotel is located near a street market with garbage and no friendly people. Not safe for a walk at night.
