Simantro Beach

This was by far the most disappointing hotel experience I have ever had at a resort claiming to be 5-star. From the first day, our room had a strong mold-like and musty smell. We reported the issue three separate times during our stay. It became clear from our conversations with staff that the problem was already known, yet absolutely nothing was done. No follow-up, no attempt to resolve the issue, and no offer to move us to another room. The complete lack of response from management was unacceptable and showed little concern for guest satisfaction. The rooms are old, worn out, and in desperate need of renovation. Nothing about them feels modern or luxurious. The furniture, bathrooms, and overall condition are far below what anyone would expect from a 5-star resort. The food was another major disappointment. The buffet felt more like average cafeteria food than a premium hotel dining experience. The quality and variety were mediocre, repetitive, and certainly not what you expect from a resort marketed as 5-star. The beach facilities were equally frustrating. Although the resort advertises its private beach, there are no complimentary sunbeds or umbrellas available for hotel guests. In order to use any sunbed or umbrella, guests are required to purchase food or drinks. As paying hotel guests, we found it unreasonable to have to spend additional money every day simply to use basic beach facilities. Furthermore, there are too few sunbeds for the number of guests staying at the resort. Parking was another issue. On several occasions there were no available parking spaces inside the resort, creating unnecessary inconvenience for guests arriving by car. The internet connection was poor throughout our stay. The Wi-Fi was slow, unstable, and unreliable, making it difficult even for basic browsing. The evening entertainment was surprisingly amateurish. The performances lacked professionalism and felt more like local amateur events than entertainment at a supposedly 5-star international resort. To make matters worse, the restaurants and bars inside the resort are significantly more expensive than many of the excellent restaurants located nearby, where both the food and service are far superior. A 5-star resort can have problems from time to time. What separates a 5-star resort from a 2-star resort is how those problems are handled. At Simantro Resort, our complaints were simply ignored. The only positive aspects of this resort are the beautiful beach, the surrounding nature, and some of the staff members who genuinely tried to help. Unfortunately, these positives cannot compensate for the outdated facilities, poor management, lack of service, and overall disappointing experience. Based on our experience, this resort is nowhere near 5-star standard. We will not be returning, and I cannot recommend Simantro Resort to anyone looking for a genuine 5-star holiday experience.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay at Simantro. The resort itself is beautiful, and the beach is one of its biggest advantages. The food was excellent, with a wide variety of options to choose from. However, the rooms feel very outdated and certainly do not meet the standard you would expect from a 5-star hotel. The Wi-Fi coverage is also poor, especially in the rooms. Another disappointment was that water is not provided during dinner, and the only complimentary water you receive is two small bottles upon arrival in your room. These may seem like minor details, but they are inexpensive improvements that would make a big difference to the overall guest experience. Unfortunately, small things like these take away from what could otherwise be an excellent stay.

The hotel has a great location surrounded by greenery with a pleasant microclimate. The beach is long, with white sand, with a gradual entrance and very clean and warm water. The beach is well maintained, the staff is friendly and well organized. The family room is spacious, clean and towels and bed linen are changed regularly. Any problem (we had it with the mattress) was efficiently, quickly and professionally resolved by the management in charge of guest relations. The food is decent. The suggestion to the management is about the entertainment, which is modest at best (especially in the evening). Conclusion: The hotel is worth the invested money and time.
