We had an excellent time here, thanks to the lady who manages the place. Mrs Dora was very kind and explained everything about Pieria, where to go and what to see. We loved the cozy atmosphere and the spaciousness of the suite, particularly since we were two people and each had his own room. The breakfast was also very good, with excellent local honey, homemade jams, breads and omelet. We loved the fact that there were two friendly dogs and several cats on the property that made it feel very homely, alive and welcoming. The antique furniture adds to the charm. Great for hiking around the village which is really cut into to (old and new Elatohori). Tried different restaurants and all were good. Great nature.

My husband and I stayed two nights in one of the suites as a home-base for visiting Mount Olympus and the surrounding area. Our room was luxuriously, gorgeously furnished - we loved the chunky wood furniture, oriental rugs and canopy bed (very romantic!). The kitchen was well stocked and convenient considering the very small selection of restaurants in the area. The breakfast was DELICIOUS - an ample spread and selection for Greek and international tastes alike. The hostess was very kind and accommodating. The only downside is the somewhat confusing drive but as long as you follow the signs for Elatochori it's easy enough (and once you reach the town there is a right-hand turn that leads to a more remote section of the town where the suites are located). We found the place quiet, tranquil and lovely. There are two dogs and cats that live on the property, but they minded their business. And I must note that we ate at the small restaurant in the center of town located just below the main church - if you stay here do not miss this place!! Try the "meatballs" (more like patties) that are tender and perfectly spiced.

We made a snap decision to alter our plans and book to stay at Amadrias and very glad we did. The road in is a bit disconcerting at times but the accommodation and hospitality made it worthwhile. Views over the valley are lovely by day and night with towns twinkling in the distance. The rooms are small but beautifully decorated with quality fittings. The owner lit the open fire in our room so we drifted peacefully to sleep with the sound of a gently crackling fire. We dined at a local taverna nearby which added to the adventure as no English was spoken there and we mimed animals to identify what the dishes might contain- great fun! And the food was authentically simple and tasty. The maison owner (Dora) made us very welcome and we enjoyed a very good breakfast in her dining room with the fantastic views spicing the food. Apparently Dora doesn't get many overseas visitors, being mostly Greeks or their friends from away which they recommend the maison to. I think we may have been the first Australians to stay and we had a great time sharing stories. If you are looking for simple delights of nature and friendship this is the place for you.
