Rex

I have been using the Rex Hotel twice a year now for over 10 years. Recently, I was allocated a room on the 6th floor which was easy to reach by lift and no noises from overhead. The recently refurbished rooms have TV, Fridge with ice compartment, air conditioning and en-suite shower. The Rex is situated across Monastiriou Str from Thessaloniki train station where you can leave bulky items in lockers if you don’t need to drag them across the road.

I stayed here for one night in July. The location in walking distance to the railway station is perfect, if you are arriving late by train (as I did). The lobby was a bit run-down and during check-in I felt not very comfortable, as I was unsure, if it was a good idea to book this hotel. But the room was in much better shape, clean and with modern furniture. So overall it was o.k. to stay here.

Nice reception staff, easy check in. Not the smartest hotel, small basic room but great value for money and best location for the station. We hopped in a taxi to get to the main drag for the football and bars and that was great. Café bar next door with good beer and friendly. Newsagent/drinks shop next door also. Would recommend as a cheap no frills base.
