Marigianna

After years of holidays in big resorts it was a refreshing change to stay at the Marigianna. There are only 24 rooms so the pool was never overcrowded and there was always a sunbed available whatever the time of day. We stayed during the school summer holidays. The staff are friendly and will do whatever they can to make you stay enjoyable. We arrived at 2am, there was no one around, we found our key in the key holder behind reception with a post-it note with our name on, so we took it and made our way to the room. This must be common for late arrivals as I saw other post-it notes on other evenings. There is no lift and there are a lot of stairs, we were on the 3rd floor. Anyone with mobility issues may struggle. The area around the pool and bar is all one level. Sunbeds are piled up, you help yourself, place the sunbed whenever you want to sunbathe (there’s 2 large grass areas) then pop it back when you are done! And they are comfy! Large swimming pool, small kids pool, pool toilets are modern and spotless. Book library located near reception. Bar area has good selection of drinks, prices similar to other local bars. Snacks are available, food was nice but I felt a little overpriced. You cannot bring your own food or drink to the pool, staff will challenge you if they see you do this. There is a lovely bakery accross the harbour, we walked there each morning to buy sandwiches (2.50 euro each). We then ate lunch in our room. We were bed & breakfast, this is served 9-11am, you can have any item from the menu and a tea, coffee or fruit juice. There was no card machine when we were there so cash only at the bar but Manos did say he was hoping to get a card machine soon. Rooms are dated, bit tight on space for us, 2 adults and 2 teenage children but we managed. More wardrobe space would have been helpful but again we managed. The shower was surrounded by a shower curtain on 3 sides so whenever we had a shower the floor got soaked, a mop in the room would be helpful. The shower was powerful and we always had hot water. We didn’t initially buy air-con as it is 10euro per day but after a few days of sleeping with the windows open and being bitten by mosquitos and then a ridiculously hot night we relented and bought air-con. Best decision we made. The Marigianna is a lovely, family run apartments where you are welcomed like family and can truely relax. I wouldn’t hesitate to return 🇬🇷

What a wonderful little hotel for a quiet and relaxing home-from-home atmosphere? Manos and his family made the three of us feel so welcome, and were very warm and helpful - service always with a smile. The top floor room was fantastic, quiet and with all we needed, and nice views from the front and back. We really made the most of the lovely pool and surrounding gardens. The hotel is located close to a remarkable little town and port of Sissi. The port even had a dedicated sunset viewing area, which is unmissable around dusk. Not much of a beach nearby, but the port and cafes made up for it. We spent a lot of time in the quaint port area. There were daily buses from the supermarket nearby and easy connections to the main bus routes and other towns. We want to send a big thank you to Manos and his family for making our 10 days there such a pleasure.

Just back from a lovely week at the Marigianna, our first time in Sissi. The apartments are family run and everyone is very friendly and helpful Rooms and pool are are spotlessly clean as is the bar area. Plenty of restaurants and bars nearby and also many more the other side of the harbour. Our favourites were Amelias and Anatolis and enjoyed watching the football at Junipers We booked a trip to Spinalonga with Stephanos tours which is a 5 minute walk from the apartments. Definitely a place we will return too
