★★★☆☆ – A nice hotel, but an all-inclusive that is confusing
We had a pleasant stay at the Porto Platanias Beach Resort. Upon our arrival, we were lucky enough to be upgraded. We had booked a suite with a view of the garden and the pool and finally got a superb suite with a sea view on the front line. A big thank you for this gesture.
The positive points are the quality of the room, the food, which is varied with a different choice every day, as well as the numerous pools. These are pleasant, even if some could be a little better maintained.
On the other hand, several points disappointed us regarding the all-inclusive package.
When booking, the photos highlight the Waterland, located right next door at the Porto Platanias Village Resort. We naturally thought that access to it was part of the stay, whereas it is entirely paid. It is quite misleading and this should be clearly indicated.
Same thing for the beach. The hotel suggests that it has its own beach, but the lounge chairs and umbrella are for a fee (€15 for two lounge chairs and an umbrella). Here again, this is not clearly explained.
The all-inclusive is very limited. The alcoholic beverages are of average quality, with very little choice, and after 11 p.m. all drinks become paid. The à la carte restaurant is also disappointing: only one meal is included during the entire stay.
Finally, the entertainment is the biggest weak point of the hotel. It lacks atmosphere, organization, and activities. For the children, it is particularly disappointing.
In summary, we had a good vacation thanks to the upgrade, the quality of the room, and the catering. On the other hand, communication regarding what is actually included in the all-inclusive package should be much more transparent in order to avoid unpleasant surprises.
