A lovely adults-only hotel set in the style of a Cretan village. Our room was perfect with a good balcony area where we could sit and enjoy an espresso whilst looking at the view of the gardens and sea beyond. The buffet food service was excellent with lots of choice of local and international dishes. We also ate at the onsite Asian speciality restaurant and was rewarded with a fantastic view of the sun setting over the hills in the distance. It was our wedding anniversary whilst we were there and unbeknown to us our daughter had contacted the hotel to inform them and they provided a chilled bottle of wine and sprinkled rose petals over our bed whilst we were sunning ourselves by the pool - see photo attached. A lovely touch! Sadly the one thing that prevents me from awarding five stars is the smoking by the pool. It may be a European thing (most of the guests seem to be German) but it was extremely difficult to find a spot away from anyone deciding to light-up a cigarette. As two non-smokers we found this quite bothersome and feel the hotel should set aside an area away from the pool for those wishing to smoke. Apart from this, we had a great time at the Ikaros Resort and would highly recommend it.

The hotel setting is very nice it is built in the style of a Cretan village the grounds are beautifully kept that’s where the wow factor ends for the English guests who are very much in the minority. To all intense and purpose it is all aimed at the German guests who are in the majority. Into our stay we were handed letters at the sun beds. They stated you should not reserve a sun bed and not use it. We went out early then decided at about 10am to go and grab breakfast. We were literally 20 mins Imagine our dismay to find all our belongings removed and new people on our beds. Service in the bars is very slow. You can not go and get a drink it’s all table service. One night we literally just had 3 drinks. I don’t have a drink problem but when you have paid an extra £1400 per person go all inclusive you feel a little cheated. The food offering again gets a bit repetitive and while the salads a beautiful and fresh the hot offering is definitely catering to the German guests. We had ants in our room we informed but the problem persisted. I got bitten by the ants had a reaction to it. Had 5 days of horrible pain and had to seek medical attention. On our last day we booked the shower room was told we could book two rooms. This was last resort as unable to keep our room on. When we got to reception they said only one shower per room. I know this makes me sound very picky but you expect nothing less than perfection in a 5 Star luxury resort that has cost £6500 for 2 weeks. We have enjoyed many 5 star resorts in Europe and the Caribbean and sadly Ikaros beach falls short of my expectations. This place has the potential to be so good they just need to cater for all their guests and may be employ a few more people in the bar at night. The Tui Rep was only on site a short while each morning and frankly as much use as a chocolate teapot.

We were at Ikaros Beach for 2 weeks in June and had a wonderful time. The room was great, and the room service was excellent. The food in the restaurant (breakfast and dinner) was fantastic, especially the dinner buffet was amazing, super delicious. The service in the restaurant and at the bar was very friendly, and they always had a smile on their faces. We would especially like to mention Sandeep, who made our evenings enjoyable.
