Santa Marina

A lovely hotel up a steep hill up from the main road. Our room had a balcony overlooking the hillside and the sea. Bedroom had a fridge (which was a bit on the small size) and a safety deposit box in the wardrobe. The bathroom was very nice and even had sliding doors for the shower so no water went over the floor. Room was cleaned and towels changed every day. The pool was a good size with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. No-one went down first thing in the morning to put their towels on the beds to reserve them which was a bonus. A good variety of both hot and cold food was available for the buffet style breakfast. All staff extremely polite and friendly.

We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. We booked with Jet 2 and the shared transfer was excellent, turned out to be just us in a taxi both ways! We were also very lucky with the room. Which was a family room with a large balcony with stunning views. The hotel has a good sized freshwater pool which was always a good temperature. Breakfast was basic but was adequate for a 3 star hotel. There is a big hill from the village to the hotel and if you are at all infirm or unfit, this hotel is not for you. Personally as someone who is reasonably fit in my late 50's it wouldn't put me off returning. Agios Nikita's has plenty of nice places to eat and the temperature in early June was around 27° each day. We rented a car from the village which was handy for a trip to Nidri waterfalls (stunning after a short but pleasant walk) and if you have never visited the island before a boat trip is a must do.
