Corfu Holiday Palace

Good food, clean rooms, safe swimming and close to the airport and Corfu town. As the title states, this hotel is quite unique. On the approach to the hotel you climb up the hillside and then turn into a very lush and well established forest with the hotel surrounded in it. You enter the hotel and see a sea of dark marble flooring. At that point you know this hotel has had an interesting history. We booked a sea view room and had a great view of the sea over the top of the trees. The room was clean and the aircon was powerful but controllable. Our room cleaner was super friendly and very thorough. There is a sense of nostalgia about the hotel which gives it a character. To get to the beach there is a nice walkway down the cliff or you take the fun route with lift and glide down. The beach is safe for swimming and not deep in the enclosed area making a great for less confident swimmers and snorkelling. We saw plenty of fish and the odd crab. The beach bar service is fantastic. Food was good in the restaurant and the chef is great to talk to. The location near the airport means that you see planes coming and going. In our rooms, we were not disturbed at night but could watch the planes on final approach from above. You can walk to Corfu town from the hotel - we did but only once. Far easier to get a bus (from outside the hotel) or a taxi. The final piece of praise I'd give the hotel is that my son had his 18th birthday while we were there. I wanted to make it special for him. A few words with guest relations and we made sure of a very special day - Thanks a lot. I'd be very happy to return to this hotel in the future.

We recently stayed at Corfu Holiday Palace and came away with mixed feelings. The standout feature of our stay was the guest relations team, who were absolutely fantastic. They were friendly, approachable, and genuinely helpful whenever we needed assistance. They are a real credit to the hotel. The hotel's location is also very convenient. The bus stop is directly outside the hotel, making it incredibly easy to get into Corfu Town for just €2 each way. This was an excellent service that we made good use of during our stay. Unfortunately, the hotel itself was disappointing. It is in need of significant updating and refurbishment, and overall felt much more tired and worn than the reviews had led us to expect. We were surprised by the condition of many areas and didn't feel it reflected the standard being advertised. One particularly disappointing aspect was the service at the pool towel station. The lady responsible for handing out and collecting towels was extremely rude on both occasions we interacted with her, which left a poor impression. The beach area also needs more attention. The sun loungers and surrounding areas were not particularly clean, and the food served at the beach bar was of poor quality and presented without much care. While there are some positives, particularly the excellent guest relations team and the convenient transport links, the overall condition of the hotel and some aspects of the service mean we would not choose to return. Sadly, we felt the hotel fell well short of our expectations and was in a much poorer state than previous reviews had suggested.

We have just returned from a week at this fabulous hotel. It was my first stay, and a return visit for my partner. The first thing that stands out here is the level of service. Antonia is the very efficient manager of the dining experience, and her team work extremely hard. We had very attentive service at breakfast and for our evening meal. Special mentions to Nikos, Aris and Francis. The range and quality of the food at breakfast and for the evening meal is very impressive. The food is expertly cooked, well presented and very very tempting. The hotel caters well for all tastes including vegetarian and pescatarian. A few times we ordered food from the pool side bar, and once you work out the way in which the system works, it is very efficient indeed. When a waiter had taken our order, the food or drink was brought straight to where we were sitting around the pool. Guests can choose to pay there and then (by card/cash) or add the amount to the room bill. My particular favourite for lunch was the Dolce Vita sandwich which is shown in the pictures with the chips. Again a special mention to Aljon and to Jame Boy who work very hard taking food and drink orders around the pool. Jame Boy also spotted my interest in the pool-side music, and shared the playlist with me :) Our room was on the 7th floor and was refurbished. We had a walk in shower rather than a bath, and this was very welcome. It is worth requesting this in advance. We had booked with Easyjet holidays but emailed the hotel directly to state our preference. Tips- request a refurbed room with a shower. Visit Mouse Island. Feed the friendly cats down by the beach. The bus stop is right outside the hotel, and the 2A runs every 20 mins into Corfu town. Many thanks again for a lovely stay. Kate and Simon
