Spingos

After reading the reviews on these studios we were not expecting the best. The apartments are typically Greek, in other words, basic. I was pleasantly surprised that the cleaner (also the owner) came in to clean the room every other day. The sheets were changed about four times in a fortnight and the towels were changed once every three days. The Owner and her daughter were both lovely and were very helpful if you needed anything. It was very central and only minutes from the beach and the heart of Roda. Would certainly stay there again.

For a start they are not called Spingos they are Spiggos.We arrived after 9pm on 7th Sept and had a job finding them as they are not sign posted anywhere.The place was in darkness and then we saw a couple unpacking in ground floor apartment and asked them how do you know which room your in.there is a board at the steps with your name and number on it which we did not see because of the dark and the key is left in the door.There is no one available on site if you need or want anything doing you have to go to the panorama apartments on the main road.We knew it was basic but picked it for quietness.In 10 days we had a cleaner 3 times clean sheets once and no clean towels for 10 days.There is a ditch with filthy water behind building which stinks and we were nearly eaten alive with mossies in and outside our apatment.The mattresses are very old with springs poking out everywhere and the pillows are like small hard lumpy cushions.You have to hold the shower head over yourself as there is no holder to put it in and the tray over flows on to the floor.You cannot cook as the facilites are very bad and what plates there was were dirty with old food still stuck to them.Before anyone says you get what you pay for i picked it for quiet and location but i expected basic not diabolical.

I've given this accomodation an above average rating purely based on it's location and the cheap prices they charge to stay here. My Partner and I booked a last minute deal on the internet for around £150 each for a week here including flights..unheard of these days! The studios are tucked behind a restaurant off the narrow old road of roda, not much to look at and typically 'greek' once inside.. ie two pine beds and a wardrobe with less than ample lighting. However, so long as you are prepared for the rough and ready nature (and you should be for those prices) you quickly realise it's a little gem. Its less than 100m to the beach and the beachfront bars and restaurants, in the heart of it all effectively, yet there is very little noise and you are completely undisturbed if you want to spend an evening reading on the balcony. Roda itself is a delightful village which you can easily walk around in twenty minutes, it was a perfect balance of old greek charm with just enough evening entertainment to keep you occupied, usually in the form of pub quizes! You can take part or not, they're never to loud and if you're looking for new friends, an easy way to get chatting. The restaurants are all fantastic and all of the restaurants on the main promenade offer glorious views of the sun setting over the beach. I really can't praise Roda highly enough, if you are looking for relaxation, great restaurants and chilled out evenings, this is heaven. An ideal place for families and couples of all ages alike (its completely flat with no steep bits to complicate the stagger home!) that offers old greek charm and seems like one of the few places where tourism hasn't completely taken over.. there's just enough to entertain you yet it's never intrusive, you don't get people begging you to come into their restaurants and if you stop to read a menu, you don't have to worry about being pounced on! A lovely little corner of corfu that's full of charm, though if you're looking for five star treatment then look somewhere else. Roda is all about unspoilt charm, if you embrace that, you'll love it
