Personally I would never visit this hotel again.. Firstly 10.00 euros per day for Aircon in the room. There were no kettle ect or even tumblers/ glasses in the bathroom. We were there 3 days before the towels were or bedding was changed The safety deposit box was in the hotel entrance one key with you a second kept in reception, the reception was closed from 8pm so it would not be possible if something needed quickly from the box (this too cost a none returnable deposit) . There were birds kept inside the main reception/ dining area which I feel was not quite healthy. The breakfast was tinned fruit cocktail, one type of plain Greek yogurt, orange and apple juice from cartoons on the counter top. Cheese and ham were processed and not at all appetitzing, tea and coffee were available.. Not my type of place for a holiday

Stellios the owner is warm and friendly, couldn’t do enough for us, treated us like family! Hotel was spotlessly clean, with cleaners in room every day except Sunday, room was basic but has everything you need, and a comfortable bed. Brand new aircon kept the room ice cold and was a must with 35 degree temps! Pool area lovely, pool extremely clean and very good and affordable food from the snack bar. Will definitely be returning!

We stayed in The Mataxa Hotel in early May, the start of their season. There was an issue with the hot water which was sorted once reported. Nice typical Greek hotel with a good atmosphere. The bar being closed at 8pm really is not an issue as the strip is so close. Loads of sun beds with umbrellas. I would happily go back to this hotel, it's small quirky but perfectly formed. One thing I do like about Kalamaki is that pretty much all the hotels are happy for you to use their pools and facilities as long as you spend some money with them. If you have been here for a couple of weeks and you fancy a change of scenery then Kalamaki has loads of options.
