Niriides Villas

We spent a week in the resort of Niriides near Gythio. It was one of our most beautiful holidays ever! The family resort is located 3 km outside the village very quiet. The sandy beach connects directly to the bungalows, separated only by a small vineyard. On the beach there are sunbeds and umbrellas for each bungalow. Although it was mid-August, there were virtually no people on the beach except the resort guests - the recreational value is incredible! The beach is one of the few where the dying sea turtles lay their eggs at night. The nests are secured by the NGO “Archelon” and are strictly protected! One of the highlights was being able to witness the birth of the baby sea turtles one morning. It was a very moving experience! The sea itself is pleasantly warm and very clean- ideal for swimming! The cosy and tastefully furnished bungalows in typical Greek style are clean and equipped with kitchenette and everything you need. From the terrace you have (partial) sea views and views of Gythio. Every morning a tablet was served with a delicious and plentiful breakfast (with delicious homemade jam) on the terrace with a radiant “Good Morning”. Jenny, the manager, is a very attentive hostess who constantly strives for the well-being of her guests and finds a solution to any problem. Also we were always surprised with delicacies such as fresh oranges and figs from the tree or a bowl of homemade hummus (delicious!). You have the feeling of being really welcome here! In summary: the resort is really a little paradise- full recommendation!

The location is very good on foot a few meters from the beach with umbrellas and sunbeds, towels provided. The sunbeds want to change the cloth, it has overflowed and we are all over the irons. The cleanliness is indulgently average both in the bathroom and in the room. Termite colonies that we couldn't get rid of (table, sink, counter). The mattress sucks, not just hard....but like sleeping on the floor. The pillows without a case inside the pillowcases having black spots and stains. The wifi is INSANE, we had no connection except for a few moments a day. The breakfast ... what can I say not insufficient, funny for the money we paid (190 per night 2 people). Definitely overrated and I don't recommend it.

We just enjoyed a blissful week at Niirides Villas. Our apartment was perfect & kept spotless throughout our stay. Our host, Jenny, was super friendly, so helpful and kept feeding us delicious treats during our stay. Breakfast was delivered each morning and was fresh, delicious and very generous. The beach was really peaceful and it was so relaxing to hear the waves from our bed! Gytheio is a 40 minute walk, half on the beach and half along the coast road (safe). There are plenty of shops and restaurants. There’s lots to do in the area but we were happy to stay on the beach and read. The Wi-Fi in the area isn’t great but there’s a strong 4g signal if you need it. Highly recommend this place and hope to return soon.
