Mathios Village

We both thought long and hard upon on return from our brilliant 10 night stay at this exceptional hotel and this is true reflection of what we found. For completeness we also considered recent reviews on other sites such as Booking.com, where we found one unjust review which we feel needs addressing first. Clearly these reviewers were there at the same time as us and are easy to identify from our experience of their behaviours towards the truly exceptional staff at Mathios Village. I would not normally challenge someone else’s personal opinion but in this instance it is so obviously unfair and unjust, and so far from reality I must say something. For us, reviews that contain no justification of the grade given are worthless anyway and should be discounted. This hotel is a 10 out of 10 from both of us and not deserving of the marks awarded by certain obviously malicious individuals. I will echo other comments made recently, and from the housekeeping staff to the hospitality staff to the general manager, this is a truly exceptional hotel, which also has exceptional facilities in a fantastic location. It was ideal for us to be slightly out of the hustle and bustle of Fira and Oia and a perfect place for couples and families. Indeed we felt like family and that was thanks to Costas and his team. The rooms are nicely appointed, of a decent size and the overall ambiance of this hotel is of a traditional village. It is thoughtfully and intelligently designed around a gorgeous pool complete with bar and restaurant overlooking. The food is excellent there. We both feel this is the best hotel we have stayed in on any Greek island (and we have done many!). Moving on Costas, the general manager. He, like all the staff, is enthusiastic, helpful, and knowledgeable. His advice was definitely worth taking heed of as he knows the island intimately. In summary; by all means consider reviews before booking Mathios Village, even the obviously erroneous ones. Our genuine opinion is that this is a perfectly positioned hotel, it is exceptionally well run, it is spotlessly clean, the food offering is excellent, and the service second to none. Bravo Mathios Village!

We have just returned from Mathios Village and had a wonderful stay. The entire property is spotless, you can feel the care and pride the team puts into maintaining every corner. Our room was spacious, bright and very comfortable, the pool area is beautifully kept and relaxing. The home cooked food was amazing with plenty to choose from. The staff were attentive and went out of their way to make sure we had the best relaxing holiday on the most beautiful Island. Costas the owner was warm and friendly we felt more like family. A truly perfect stay, thank you Costas and staff!

My wife and I enjoyed a week on beautiful Santorini and our stay at Mathios Village in Akrotiri contributed greatly to that. From the first moment we felt very welcome by Kostas, the manager. What a friendly and helpful man! Nothing is too much trouble for him – he is always ready to take care of everything for you. Whether it is renting a car, booking a boat trip or putting together a daily schedule with fun suggestions, Kostas thinks along with you. At the same time, he makes you feel like you need to relax and enjoy your holiday, which he clearly thinks is very important. The accommodation itself looks like new and is exceptionally well maintained. Everything is spotless – a really big compliment to the cleaning ladies, who do a fantastic job here. What made our stay extra special was the restaurant of Mathios Village. For guests who want to take advantage of this, Kostas' mother cooks the most delicious, authentic dishes with great love. This gave an extra warm and personal touch to our stay. In addition, during our stay we not only enjoyed everything Mathios Village has to offer, but also brought something very valuable: we see Kostas and the staff as our new friends. That says everything about the warm, welcoming atmosphere of this place. In short: Mathios Village is a place where hospitality, quality and relaxation come together. We had an unforgettable week here and will definitely come back here again!
