Akti

I have just returned from a week's holiday staying at the Hotel Akti in Skiathos town. My room was clean and comfortable with extra pillows and bedding if needed. There was free wifi and air conditioning, tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge. From the balcony with table and chairs, the view over the port was excellent. There are lots of restaurants and tavernas offering a wide variety of cuisines, all within walking distance as is the harbour from which numerous boat trips are available. The staff were friendly and helpful.

I stayed in Skiathos for two weeks in June, the first week I stayed in the city at the Akti hotel. I had chosen it mainly for the location, so it was convenient for boat trips and so it was. Even in the evening I was fine, because I went down and a stone's throw away I had the main streets of the Town, with shops and restaurants, and the two old / new ports (which in turn has a branch to the airport, after the bus station). Reached from the airport by bus, in about 10 minutes for only 3 euros (compared to taxi fares). In the room there was small quiet refrigerator, kettle and a couple of cups for breakfast. I hoped I could do it on the terrace but in the morning it was flooded with sunshine. There is a mini market next to the hotel entrance, port side. The assigned room was on the first floor overlooking the harbor, in the morning sunlight woke me up early enough because the only tent available is white .. so it could not filter. Extremely small bathroom, shower that flooded with every use and with plastic curtain that sticks to the skin while you wash. The first few nights there was a lot of noise from the street, until 2am between scooters going up and down and people talking and laughing loudly in the taverns on the ground floor. I asked the receptionist if there was the possibility of a change of room, even in later days, but he answered exclusively NO. Very basic cleaning, infrequent linen change. Air conditioning very dated and noisy. Services side I expected more given the price paid, also the photos I had seen in various portals (including this one) highlight other rooms, with different decor and colors, which are probably on the top floor. After searching through lots, we are so glad we booked this lovely hotel. The location is fantastic, room comfy & clean, views amazing (overlooking the port) and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We’ll definitely be returning again in the future!
