Ionia

After a very smooth transfer to the door by the hotels mini bus we encountered a pleasant check in and informative. Our room was up a few steps although it was actually a ground floor room which isn’t our first choice. The room was big enough for us and we appeared to be one of the luckier ones to have a decent shower with a fixed head. And a Bund wall to step over to stop the room flooding. We were happy with our room overall. The hotel and its grounds are well kept although a little dated and nice and clean everywhere.The main talking points with most guests were the breakfast being the same items every day and no toaster. Also the pool area was very pleasant to sit in and around but there was nowhere near enough sunbeds for the amount of guest wanting to use them. Every member of staff were well presented and always polite and professional. The towels and bedding were changed regularly and our room was cleaned efficiently by our cleaner Martha who always did it with a smile and always had enough time for a little chat each day. If the sunbeds and the breakfast issue were addressed along with some updates to the showers we think this hotel would be a perfect place to stay . We really enjoyed staying and it seems to attract similar styles of holiday makers as us. Generally the hotel has a nice Karma. Thanks to all at the Ionia when we return to Skopelos we would have no hesitation in staying with you again.

This hotel is basic but Its location is very good. Literally 5-10 minutes walk down hill, (not good for people with walking difficulties, maybe a little steep) to the many restaurants and resort. The hotel has many steps, not suitable for a wheelchair user or those unstable on their feet. There is no longer a hot tub, it’s been replaced with seating area. The pool is up to 1.50m high, which is good for those who like to walk in the pool. Sun-beds unfortunately, there are not enough for all guests. which leads to towels being put on sun beds very early! Otherwise, you don’t get one, on a busy day. There are only two parasols available for guests, which is not enough on really hot days. The pool area is tidy, there is a bar area under a large tree and pagoda. Snacks are available toasted sandwiches, salads, crisps, Icecream, etc are all available (although, be it at a premium but the hotel does have to make a living!). Cocktails are quite expensive, starting at 12 euros each up to 14 euros each. Go into town and they are 8 euros, happy hour all day! The room we had 312 was very dated and needed a refurb. It did however, have a lovely patio area which was nice to sit out on in the morning or evening, The shower was very small and it was such a job to even try and wash your hair! Every time we showered, water went all over the floor unfortunately. The shower head not being fixed to the wall was not helpful. Breakfast is very basic. But enough for our needs. Greek yogurt, tinned peaches (which I did find surprising) olives, cereals, pastries, cheese, ham, etc, No toaster, plenty of coffee and orange juice and water. If you want a basic hotel which is clean, and are not looking for anything special with a great location. For the price we paid its very good value. Skopelos island is a beautiful part of Greece and definitely well worth a visit!

The hotel is in a great location just a few minutes walk down the cobbled streets to tavernas, shops and the harbour, keep in mind that the hotel is up hill which I can’t see mentioned on Jet2. Reception staff were very friendly and check in was nice and easy. Our room was on the top floor and there is no lift so if you have any health issues it’s best to check out if it’s suitable for you. Breakfast was the same every morning however it was fresh and plenty of it. I over heard other guests complaining about the food but for a two star hotel I thought it was good. The bathroom was the smallest I have ever had in a hotel, you could rest your head on the sink while sitting on the toilet! The shower was good but in the morning it had to be running for about 10 minutes before any hot water appeared. The hotel was spotless and well maintained, the pool and bar area was very clean and the ladies who clean the rooms do a really good job.
