This was my third visit to WBL&S. The first time was great! The second time I noticed a decline but it wasn't anything that affected my stay. But this time, it was pretty bad. As soon as we arrived, my husband opened the screen door to our bungalow and the door came off in his hand. Since there is no maintenance person on staff, the pool guy helped put the door back, but it was never properly aligned and there didn't seem to be any desire to fix it. Once inside, there was a huge dead water bug that took them a day and a half to remove. We had no broom to sweep it away. The stove was rusty and needed a good cleaning. There was mold in the bathroom, and the towels were yellowed and paper thin. They were better used as rags than bath towels. Celeste was preparing for a trip to Fiji so she was hard to get a hold of, and did not respond quickly. But we shouldn't have had to wait for a resolution; she should deputize someone else --- like Lorelie -- to handle guest issues. It was very disappointing since I think this could be a FABulous resort. It has good bones, but it needs some TLC to bring it back to life. The whole place is in need of a good cleaning, a paint job and some refreshing. We were so disenchanted that we cut our stay short and moved to Naboo (down the block ) mid week and they had fluffy white towels and it was immaculate! Sorry, but WBL&S was a huge miss this time.

This is our 2nd visit to Roatan and to West Bay Lodge and spa, and it likely won’t be the last. This jungle oasis is close to the Beach (a 5 minute walk) but far from the crowds and activity. We stayed in Bungalow #2, with its full kitchen. We stocked up on food at Eldon’s by the airport, and were able to cook many of our meals. Pickup & airport drop off is complimentary if you’re staying more than 5 nights, as is laundry. Breakfast is included and served on site at Kristi’s Island kitchen. This is an intimate resort and staff (and the owner Celeste) & other guests are friendly and comprise a little community. The animals on site, including “our” cat Clyde, add to the family feel. This is a perfect place to stay and to enjoy West Bay & The West End (a $5 water taxi ride away). Just ask the staff if you need a taxi or want to take an excursion. We did a private snorkeling tour with Roatan Coral Reef company (Franklin) one afternoon and that was amazing. Franklin snorkeled with us, and showing us some amazing creatures we probably would have missed, as well as turtles that were viewed in the glass bottom of the boat. This tour was set up by the Lodge staff. Thanks to Celeste, Lorelei and all staff including the amazing masseuses (like Blanca) at the spa for another epic stay!

From the moment we arrived, we knew this was going to be a special experience. Celeste and Milo have created more than just a beautiful place to stay—they’ve built a sanctuary that feels personal, peaceful, and full of heart. Every detail of our stay felt truly customized, and it’s clear how much love has gone into this place. The staff is what really sets West Bay Lodge apart. Dana and Loralie are absolute gems—kind, attentive, and always going the extra mile to make sure we were taken care of. Jimmy works quietly but tirelessly to keep the grounds pristine, and his hard work doesn’t go unnoticed. We also had the pleasure of visiting the spa, where Jen welcomed us with such warmth—it felt like being wrapped in a hug. Thank you, Celeste, for sharing this piece of paradise. We left feeling refreshed, grateful, and already dreaming about our return.
