Lucky Hostel

We had made a booking via agoda, and arrived to find that no room was available, despite us showing them the email with the confirmed booking! We tried to reason with them, but were met with hostile and aggressive verbal attacks. There was a middle aged Chinese man with a mullet and blonde hair, who acted like some kind of gangster bodyguard for the innkeeper. Maybe it's OK if you have no other options, but otherwise AVOID! We ended up checking other guesthouses in the same building and were met with far better service.

Stayed here for 3 night as had booked. Had we turned up off the street we would probably have walked. Were told we'd have to move rooms after the first night which turned out to be a blessing as the first room was tiny and pretty dirty. The mattresses smelled sweaty and the room was entirely mirrors that had been wallpapered over. Points for guessing what this place used to be... Second room was cleaner but had a toilet/shower over the hall with the door opening onto the reception. Not great for privacy. Hot water was intermittent, as was WiFi. At first we thought the WiFi issues were our fault connecting to the wrong network but it turned out to be evening issues with so many people using it. Not great when trying to plan your next day and you can't load a single web page. Staff were helpful when we needed anything. Only Helen speaks English but does so very well and is always contactable via Facebook. Random, but it works (when the internet does). Free filtered water in the lobby and helpfulness of staff earn the second star. But to be honest i bet there's better if our look around.

It is extremely convenient to go anywhere and everything is close by even a self-served laundromat. Wifi reception is good, rental price is fair per night(if you don't book a room the last minute). The room is quiet. However, the room and bathroom were old and just too worn out to be rented out. The hinge of the toilet cover was covered with mold and one of them was disconnected so the toilet seat that I was sitting on didn't stay. The sheet was not clean, I could see small black things there when I first checked in. There is no cleaning room service at all even I stayed over 7 nights! Garbage bags are available upon request and customers are responsible for disposal. Toilet tissues are available upon request too if it is finished. The air-conditioner has to be on all time because there is no window. One time, I requested an extra comforter and the one that was provided smelled so bad that I returned without use. I told the owner and he said probably it (the comforter) was put outside and left alone so it smelled. The floor was dirty. I saw someone mop the floor (the hallway, common area where we get our hot & cold water and blow dry our hair, hair dryer is installed in common area) but for some reason it was still dirty.
