This is day 3 of being in the hotel, if you can call it that. We booked a room with kitchen as I am traveling with a kid and need access to a kitchen so I don't eat out too much. Day 1: check in was seamless, that's about the only positive thing so far. There is no lift/elevator. My mistake for not checking. I had to lug the luggage for 3 flights of stairs. I open the door to my room and it's like being in a sauna. The radiator in the room is busted. Sockets don't work and the TV doesn't work. I found someone who works there but she said "I don't know" when I asked for help. After calling the number provided and going back and forth for a couple of hours, I was changed to another room. They promised me this was temporary and they will send someone to fix the issue in my original room. This new room is very small with no kitchen. The bathroom is another story. Toilet is right in front of the shower. The whole place gets wet and the water flows out to the room. Day 2: the vending machine of 2nd floor is busted open and there is glass all over the place. It didn't look good. Looked very shady. My son got super scared and is not feeling safe at all. We went on a tour and came back to realize that I now don't have access to the room. I am locked out! I called them and had to get the access restored. When I asked them about my original room they said they are working on it. Day 3: still no update on the room. When we came back from our tour, we saw police activity. I again called The Arctic Comfort hotel number as there is no one on the premises to talk to. There is no receptionist or front desk. When I asked about the police activity, the hotel employee asked me not to worry, it's just a guest being bad and somehow getting the code of a different room and stealing another guest's stuff. WOW!!! I am not sure if I should appreciate her honesty or what. My already scared son just lost it. He is trembling in fear. At this point I am beyond frustrated with the situation. Oh btw, the hotel offered 10% refund each day I am not in my original room. How is that even fair. I paid a higher price for a room with a kitchen. Now I am eating out as I don't have access to a kitchen. That doesn't even begin to cover the emotional and physical distress this place has put me in.... Unfortunately, I have the room booked for a few more days. Good luck to me! Please, if you are reading this, do yourself a favor and don't stay here. It is in the middle of nowhere with no one to help you if anything goes wrong. I have been waiting for years to come here, this place has turned my dream vacation into a frustration just like that! 🫤

Despite the hotel’s somewhat unpreposessing location in the middle of what appears to be an industrial estate, we did enjoy our stay in room 501 here.
Points of note-
The hotel is approximately 2 miles from the centre of Reykjavik. So prepare to walk, hire a car or make use of taxis etc.
We were told the hotel has no reception desk-and we never did see or find one. You need to contact them in advance to get your “access code” which unlocks the main door, your room door and then locks your room door on exit. The e-mail with this information went to our booking agents, and not me, so I had to call their call centre to get it re-sent. All while standing outside in temperatures below freezing.
This code also will not work until 3pm on your arrival day. Luckily we were able to attract the attention of the housekeepers who let us in and let us wait while they finished cleaning our room.
The bathroom is a wet room. So when you’re in the shower, the toilet will get wet. The sliding door also leaks so the floor outside also gets wet and slippery.
The WiFi was also very spotty and wasn’t working at all on our last day, so the TV refused to work.
And the heating while excellent, gets a bit overwhelming and may need turning down.
But. The bed. Oh my word the bed. I wanted to pack it up and bring it home. Hands down the comfiest bed I have ever slept in !
Overall, it’s a good base and a place to lay your head at the end of the day. Would happily return.

The rate of experience definitely is dar better than the pat review. The hotel just need to focus of micro detail of booking such as breakfast , the capsule given for the coffee maker machine should be compatible . But above all , the experience is really comforting as the hotel names as. The room is well renovated, Their in house geo soap is great smell and relaxing. The shower is of good high standard rain shower feature.
The hotel is best for light travellers as there is no available elevator. The location is perfect and not very populated busy area . Google map stated short walk distance to Bonus Supermarket which is best place to buy groceries .
The hotel is known for pickup of tour packages, which is good criteria of choosing hotel when in Iceland.
