Super location for shopping & dining and really great design vibe. The breakfast was also quite nice. We had room 12 which was very quiet and great little semi-private patio as well!

I stayed for one night only but I had a pleasant stay. The staff were warm and receptive. My room was clean and spacious for one person. The hotel is located up a hill in the touristy commercial corridor of the capital next to countless stores.
At breakfast, there were good options and I felt satisfied.
My tour guide booked this hotel.
In sum, it was a fine stay.

This hotel is in central Reykjavik and COULD have been a great place to stay. We arrived 15 minutes after breakfast closed and had paid for that night as we flew in specifically to arrive in time for breakfast -- but alas, our flight and driver were slightly late. The young woman with long blonde hair at the front desk had no compassion or desire to make things right and offer us a little roll or something to eat. She did say there were places outside and down the street to get something to eat; and after flying all night, we were too bushed to explore and headed to our room. The hallways were very dimly lit and so it was difficult to actually find our room. The room numbers were also very dimly written outside each door. We wandered up and down several times before we tried the door we thought was ours, and fortunately, it was. Loved the room! Very different and comfortable -- that is, until we discovered there was no AC and only two windows that opened up downward. The TV did not work either, which we told the young lady at the front desk. We did sleep a few hours before going out and finding dinner somewhere. When we returned, the TV was fixed and working, and we TRIED to sleep through the grunge band music being played until 3:00 a.m. from the bar across the street. If our windows would have been closed with some AC on, our sleeping might have been better. For 2 nights, we did not sleep. The complimentary breakfast was really below basic standards. The eggs were cold, not even over a heating unit, and the choices were extremely minimal. Later on in the day, we asked the young lady at the front desk for a cab, and it was like moving a mountain. She just did not like to DO anything for her guests and DID NOTHING to make them want to return to her hotel. She could not even crack a smile during the three days we were there. At one point during our stay, there was a young man at the front desk, and he was wonderful. Great personality, ready to help or answer questions, and he was a delight. He was a good ambassador for the hotel.
In my most humble of opinions, this is a hotel I will never return to in the future. I might visit just to remind myself of how bad things can be when you travel and have no idea what you are visiting. The hotel was clean, and we felt safe, but the basic feeling of "uncomfortable" overtook the rest. This is a hotel I would not recommend to anyone, not even if it were the only place left on earth!
